I have been pondering my own life lately and I have been questioning my success: What defines my success? When is enough? At what point will I be satisfied?
Society has this cookie cutter version of success that it loves for us all to conform to. A nice house with a happy family inside. A nice car to drive them around. A good job to pay the bills. When you become very secure in your self worth, this really no longer applies to you. You have the ability to forge your own definition of success, which gives you unparalleled freedom, in a way you could never imagine.
For me, the components of success are:
Being able to align my life with my personal core values.
Authentically being myself at all times.
Feeling joy in my life every day.
// Core Values //
Everyone has different core values, and a person’s core values have nothing to do with the tasks that fill a person’s life. Core values are those traits that a person has that differentiates them from the next person. My key core values are:
If you are not living in alignment with your core values, you really won’t feel successful at all. Working against your core values will drain your energy and your happiness.
// Authenticity //
Being authentic leads to success because you never have to pretend you are someone that you are not. You can just be yourself, and this opens up the ability to learn so deeply about yourself. Deep self-awareness leads to a healthy self-worth. We are all unique. We are all individual. Owning that leads to peace within.
// Joy //
Finally, joy is an essential ingredient for success. If your life doesn’t bring you joy, then you really have to reevaluate whether you are truely living in alignment with your core values. Living in alignment with your core values is what truely brings you joy. The joy that is your birth right. The joy that you deserve.
